Free flight information service via mobile for London Gatwick easyJet passengers
easyJet passengers flying from London Gatwick Airport will be the first to benefit from easyJetText: a free, new mobile flight information service designed to keep passengers informed and ensure they have all critical flight details to hand.
BAA, who own London Gatwick Airport, worked closely with easyJet during the development of easyJetText to ensure passengers receive the best possible experience when flying from the airport. This includes sending them flight status updates and making passengers aware of exclusive offers from airport retailers.
Jo Astor, Retail Director of London Gatwick Airport, said: “BAA is always looking for innovative new ways of improving the passenger’s experience at our airports, so we were delighted to work with easyJet to launch easyJetText at Gatwick, which offers passengers an excellent mix of information, advice, and exclusive retail offers.”
With easyJetText, passengers opt-in via an email invitation to receive free flight information sent by text message on their day of departure. Current information includes:
- An SMS update 4 hours before departure confirming the flight time, departure terminal, and a reminder of their booking reference
- Notification shortly before check-in closes
- Notification shortly before boarding gate closes
And, passengers who opt in to receive communication, will also receive up to 2 exclusive offers from relevant airport retailers.
easyJetText, is operated for easyJet by Mantic Point, and is currently available on 8 routes departing from London Gatwick, and also on flights from Glasgow and Edinburgh to London Gatwick. Over the coming months, passengers on other easyJet flights from BAA airports will also be able to use the service.
