10,000 BUSINESS MEETINGS MISSED EACH YEAR THROUGH DELAYED FLIGHTS

[1 June 2006, Leeds] For many businesses their biggest commodity is time. Over 200,000 visits abroad were made for business purposes last year, yet according to a new survey one in twenty business users have completely missed a crucial business meeting due to flight delays.
The poll of 2,887 flyers conducted by www.streamthru.com, the service that sends free flight information to mobile phones, has revealed the number of business flyers in the UK is increasing with one in one hundred taking more than 20 flights per year. Of those, one in twelve is forced to spend their time waiting in the business lounge rather than in the office due to delayed flights and a lack of information in advance of arriving at the airport.
Of those who experienced a flight delay, 15% missed a pitch for new business, one in twenty missed a meeting with their boss and 5% revealed that they had to wait overnight in an airport for their flights to be re-scheduled.
The launch of the service comes at a time when departures from UK airports have rocketed to 180 million, with one in four of all air passengers facing flight delays.

A few hours before the scheduled departure time StreamThru sends an SMS message confirming flight details, advising if the flight is likely to be on time or delayed.
