easyJet launches easyJetText - the mobile flight information service
easyJet, Europe's leading low-fares airline, today launched easyJetText: a new, free, mobile flight information service delivering care and convenience for passengers.
Peter Gerstle, Product Development Manager at easyJet said: "This is a great day for passengers who are fed up with hunting for bits of paper with their flight details or scanning pages of departure board information to check their flight status. From today, easyJetText offers a hassle-free way for passengers to access all the flight information they need from their mobile phone."
Passengers on eligible flights opt-in via an email invitation to receive free information sent by text message on departure day. Current updates include:
- A reassurance message 4 hours before departure confirming their booking reference, the flight time and check-in arrangements
- A notification shortly before check-in closes
- A boarding reminder
In launching easyJetText, easyJet has worked closely with airport operator BAA and its retailers to secure a range of exclusive retail offers for passengers. Passengers signing-up for the service are eligible to receive up to two relevant offers from selected airport retailers.
The service, operated for easyJet by Mantic Point, is currently available on 8 routes departing from London Gatwick, 1 route from Glasgow and 1 route from Edinburgh. Over the next 6 months, the service is intended to roll out across easyJet's entire base network.
